ALSI Luminaires Deemed Most Efficient By Lighting Facts Program

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Appalachian Lighting Systems, Inc. (ALSI) has announced new developments in their support of and participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) SSL Quality Advocates pledge and Lighting Facts program. The current product listing on the Lighting Facts website (www.LightingFacts.com) includes 51 luminaires that have been certified and accepted by Lighting Facts. ALSI is pleased to be able to claim the top two – and three of the top four – most efficient certified luminaires.

Robert McAnally, ALSI’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “This solid performance against fourteen manufacturers, like GE, King and other tier-1 manufacturers, is yet another clear indication of ALSI’s growing engineering and manufacturing prowess.”

The SSL Quality Advocates program and the Lighting Facts label were jointly developed by DOE and the Next Generation Lighting Industry Alliance as a foundation for successful commercialization of solid-state lighting, a technology with the potential to cut U.S. lighting energy use by one third. The SSL Quality Advocates program showcases light emitting diode (LED) luminaire manufacturers who commit to testing products and reporting performance results according to industry standards. This provides lighting buyers, designers and energy efficiency programs with essential information to evaluate and select products for their specific projects and for promotion to clients and consumers.

Appalachian Lighting Systems, Inc. specializes in designing and manufacturing high-powered, ultra energy-efficient, light emitting diode LED lighting fixtures. With R&D and production facilities located in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, ALSI manufactures industrial-grade lighting products using state-of-the-art patented technology.
